Legacy Road Athletes

Legacy Road has not only been lined with songs and music, friends and family, movies and books, but also athletes who perform in such a way that they inspire the human spirit. I spent the early part of my life playing basketball, and to this day, I attribute my work ethic and sense of discipline to my driving passion for basketball. I loved a basketball more than I loved to eat or sleep. For so very long....it was my life. I loved the smell of an old wooden floor gym, the leather of the basketball, the feeling of  playing pick up games in my old neighborhood. Then, during a high school basketball practice, I found running. It was a natural fit for me both physically and mentally. After finding my home in this sport, I ran in high school and college. Running has played a huge role in my life, and to this day, there is nothing I enjoy more than to take a long run and relish in the solitude and rythmn...poetry...of the sound of my feet on the pavement or an old dirt road.

The Legacy Road Athletes that I spotlight in this section are heroes in my life. They inspired me in so many ways. When I truly want to lift my spirits, I watch an old race or game...and lose my self in the determination and pure will that these individuals exhibit in pursuing excellence. Besides music, sports has been my other obsession and I am thankful for the opportunity to share my inspirational heroes with you.
